Description
An abaya is a loose-fitting, robe-like garment worn by some women in Islamic cultures as a form of modest clothing. It is a traditional garment that is commonly worn in countries such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and other Middle Eastern and North African countries.
The abaya typically covers the entire body except for the hands, feet, and face. It is usually made of black fabric, although abayas are available in a variety of colors and designs today. The garment is often made from lightweight, flowing materials such as chiffon, crepe, or silk, and may be embellished with embroidery, beading, or other decorative elements.
Abayas serve as a means of observing modesty and fulfilling religious requirements for some Muslim women. They are worn in public and serve as an outer garment to cover the regular clothing worn underneath. In addition to providing modesty, abayas are also considered a symbol of cultural identity.
